Member without portfolio: Alef Theria Wasim, Indonesia
Alef Theria Wasim has served on the Executive Committee of the IAHR as Member-at-large (2000-2005). Lecturer and a faculty member since 1971 at the State Islamic University (UIN), was born in Yogyakarta, 1943. She contributes heavily in teaching modern and classical study of religions, gave a lecture at the Institute of Islamic Studies (University of the Philippiness, Diliman, Quezon City, 1990) and gives lectures at graduate and postgraduate program at several universities. She took a sandwich program in Islamic Studies (Universiteit te Leiden, the Netherlands, 1987-1988), a Course on Strategic Management (Department of Human Resource, McGill University, Canada, 1997), and a Course on Muslim-Christian Relations (Hartford Seminary, Connecticut, USA, 1998). She wrote her dissertation on an old manuscript of the 17th Century Aceh, entitled Tibyân fî Ma`rifat al-Adyân (Exposé of Religions) and one aspect of her dissertation has been discussed in Wellington University (New Zealand, 2002).
As the President of the Indonesian Association for the Study and Research of Religion and as a member of The Yogyakarta Society for Science and Religion, she spends much of her time for taking part in the development of academic discussions and researches in the fields of religions, and presenting several articles on the subjects related to it.
