IAHR President, Prof. Peter Antes, keynote speaker at Unesco roundtable hosted by CIPSH (14 December 2001)
IAHR President, Prof. Peter Antes, was invited to appear as one of the keynote speakers at conference hosted by Conseil international de la philosophie et des sciences humaines (CIPSH) on "Religion et cultures: formes et dynamiques de leurs ineractions/Religion and Culture: The Modes and Driving Forces of their Interaction" in Paris on December 14, 2001.
The conference was conceived as a result of the September 11, 2001 attack on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon in the U.S. It was chaired by the President of the General Conference of Unesco who asked CIPSH to host the meeting.
CIPSH invited the IAHR to propose one or two speakers. The General Secretary, Prof. Armin W. Geertz, proposed Prof. Antes and the President of CIPSH, Prof. Madeline H. Caviness.
Prof. Antes gave a talk on "Le monde apres le 11 septembre 2001" and Prof. Caviness gave a talk on "Iconoclasm and Iconophobia: Three Historical Case Studies". The papers will be published in Diogène.
