IAHR Archive Established
(January 3, 2002)
Thanks to the efforts of Professor Michael Pye, the IAHR established an archive on January 3, 2002 at the Universitätsbibliothek der Philipps-Universität Marburg (the University Library at the University of Marburg) in Germany.
The archive will be preserved in the same manner as other post-mortal academic deposits and manuscript collections, either in the sub-library "Bibliothek Religionswissenschaft" or elsewhere. A general catalogue of the materials will be maintained, and at some point, the catalogue or an abbreviation of it may be posted on this website.
Full data protection relating to individual persons living or dead will be maintained. The archive may be viewed and studied in the rooms of the library for historical or scientific purposes by persons with a bona fide interest. A register of users will be maintained and may be shown to the IAHR President or General Secretary upon request. The latter will also be informed about specific projects relating to the archive.
This agreement is a landmark in the history of the IAHR because the association has had no formal geographical location, and therefore important documents, papers, bulletins and correspondence are currently in the hands of past and present officers of the Executive Committee. Now it is possible for the organization to build an archive for future preservation and study.
